Branding & Packaging Design
The Challenge: Blue Mountain Wine Crafters, a small winery in Funkstown, MD, sought a complete overhaul of their branding and wine label system. They aimed to reflect their passion for winemaking and their authentic, handmade approach in the new design.
The Approach: I started by creating mind maps and mood boards to distill the client's key points. I analyzed competitors and the brand's history to design a revised logo that would be effective both on small labels and large signs. Research included wine label requirements, packaging, and potential costs for materials and printing.
The Solution: The redesigned branding and label system highlighted the winery’s handcrafted approach through a color-coded, bird-of-prey-themed labeling system. Each wine category—whites, reds, fruit, and blush wines—featuring a distinct color and hand-painted bird illustration. This approach aids in easy recognition and aligns with the brand story. The one label system designed for easy labeling, saves time while providing necessary product information. Additional mockups included merchandise, an online store front, and branded bottles and glasses. The new system is adaptable for future expansion with new bird designs and color categories.
